Dr. David Samadi was born and raised in a Persian Jewish community in Iran. In 1979 after the Iranian Revolution, he was forced to move to Belgium with his brother at the age of 15. The Revolution separated him with his family and had to start a new life together with his brother Dan. Despite the fact that they were young and separated from their parents and little sister, Samadi and Dan worked hard and wanted to make their parents proud of them. They studied hard and were determined to achieve their dreams. Dr. Samadi wanted to become a doctor and he worked hard to ensure that he had accomplished that dream. After arriving at the U.S, their lives became even better and their future appeared brighter.
When he arrived in Belgium, Samadi was determined to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor and therefore he immediately enrolled for studies. After arriving in the United States, he joined Roselyn, New York to complete his high school education. After finishing high school, Samadi went to Stony Brook University where he obtained his degree in biochemistry through a full scholarship program. In 1994 he joined Stony Brook School of Medicine for his master’s degree. Dr. Samadi went to Montefiore Medical Center in 200 where finished his postgraduate training in Urology.
Dr. Samadi also went to France and through the help of Professor Claude Abbou, he accomplished a robotic radical prostatectomy fellowship at Henri Mondor Hospital in France. Dr. David Samadi is also an innovator. He came up with a prostate cancer treatment method also known as Samadi Modern Advanced Robotic Technique (SMART) which has been proven to be more effective for cancer treatment. The method has fewer side effects compared to other conventional cancer treatment methods and is less painful.
Dr. David Samadi is the current Chairman of Urology and Chief of Robotic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He has served in that position since June 6, 2013. Samadi is a leader in prostate cancer treatment and Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy. He has permed more than 8000 Laparoscopic procedures since he began his practice. Besides his busy profession, Dr. Samdi also hosts a show, Dr. David Samadi TV where he shares his medical experience with the public and answers various questions regarding robotic surgery.
